About

Betsy Roy is a writer, educator, social worker and pre-licensed therapist. She received her MFA in Creative Writing from Rutgers University-Camden, where she teaches Composition 101 and 102. She received her MSW from Temple University in 2026 and is interested in collaborative, strengths-based approaches to mental health care. As an undergraduate at Brown University, she developed her passion for environmental stewardship and community wellness living in the Environmental Program House. She has a particular interest in supporting folks’ relationships to the natural world. Her work with the Philly Goat Project, leading wellness walks and therapeutic programming, is testament to this. Beyond this, she has led nature journaling workshops with folks of all ages. Betsy Roy has received advanced training from the Center for Nature Informed Therapy on nature-based practices.

Her writing regularly appears in publications focused on mental health. She holds active memberships with Nature and Health Alliance, Brave Movement and Pennsylvania Society of Clinical Social Work (PSCSW).
